Agroforestry Aesthetics

How does life cultivate vitality, belonging, and continuity?

Aesthetic Agroforestry emerged from this question.

Created by artist and researcher Tiça Camargo, founder of Pirilimpimpim Floreá, Aesthetic Agroforestry is a Brazilian worldview and methodology for art, memory, and cultural exchange, developed through the encounter between social memory, community-based practices, spirituality, and practices of care cultivated across different Brazilian territories.

This research investigates how culture, affection, and coexistence contribute to the creation of belonging and the vitality of human systems.

It is grounded in the understanding that art and care share a common inquiry into life.

Over more than fifteen years working across image arts, botanical perfumery, spirituality, social memory, and practices of care, Tiça Camargo recognized that the fundamental questions of human experience transcend disciplinary boundaries while sharing common roots.

Through her movement across territories, communities, and traditions, identity revealed itself as a living weave of cultural, symbolic, and emotional inheritances. Within this context, agroforestry emerged as an organizing image and as a way of understanding how life generates diversity, cooperation, interdependence, and regeneration.

The same principles that sustain thriving ecological systems also shape cultures, communities, and human relationships.

Since childhood, Tiça has moved between spiritual arts, artistic creation, and practices of care. Ritual work with plants, spirituality, spagyric practices, and the transformation of natural materials deepened her observation of the visible and invisible relationships connecting nature, culture, and human experience.

Root, resin, flower, and gesture: each carries a memory that the body recognizes before the mind can explain.

Through image, gesture, behavior, and nonverbal communication, aesthetics reveals stories, memories, and ways of being, making visible the web of relationships that connects people, cultures, and living systems.

This is the territory in which Aesthetic Agroforestry operates. Experiences, rituals, and accompanying processes become spaces of inquiry where memory, image, behavior, and presence can be observed, recognized, and transformed.

In practice, it is expressed through image arts, botanical perfumery, gesture, memory, and the meeting of different forms of knowledge, creating the conditions for individuals, groups, and communities to strengthen bonds of belonging, expand their capacity for coexistence, and cultivate cultural exchange, creative processes, and shared futures.
