ARTISTIC RESIDENCIES AND RESEARCH PROCESSES

Listening is the first act of research.​

This is the gesture that opens every artistic residency developed by Tiça Camargo, guided by Aesthetics Agroforestry.

Each residency emerges from the encounter between people, cultures, and territories. Rather than following a predefined format, it unfolds through processes shaped by the unique characteristics of each context, its histories, knowledge systems, and ways of producing knowledge.​

The research that underpins this work begins with a central question: How are human experiences transformed into consciousness? From this inquiry, each residency explores the relationships between memory, identity, culture, the body, image, and belonging.

• How do stories, affections, and lived experiences manifest through image, behavior, and nonverbal communication?

• How can art and practices of care expand the capacity for listening among individuals, communities, and territories?

Fields of Collaboration

This research engages with cultural centers, museums, artistic residency programs, universities, educational institutions, festivals, community initiatives, and independent spaces for art and culture. Each residency becomes a unique field of inquiry, where different forms of knowledge, lived experience, and ways of life come into dialogue.

Trajectory

This research brings together more than fifteen years of work across image arts, education, social memory, botanical perfumery, and practices of care. It encompasses more than one hundred artistic productions, educational work with thousands of young people, and projects developed across Brazil and Europe. It has been shaped through collaborations with institutions including Theatro Municipal de São Paulo, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Teatro da Vertigem, Museu da Pessoa, and the Ano Zero Biennial in Coimbra.

Collaborations

Residencies may be developed independently or in partnership with cultural institutions, educational programs, universities, festivals, research centers, and community initiatives, always in dialogue with the host context, its knowledge systems, and its ways of organizing and creating.
